Defence Devil Photo Shoot

Hi guys, I’m here with a Photo Shoot entry for my Defence Devil cosplay with Zephyus. It was also the costume we worn during the Anime Festival Asia’s Regional Cosplay Competition.

It felt good to finally shoot our AFARCC costumes. Though trying to settle the Nitti gritty of a Photo shoot is annoying as usual. And it is made worse with the fickleness of Singapore's January weather coupled with Zephyus's forever busy schedule.

But despite all, we came through to something. Yeah to cosplay superheroes for saving the day once again!

The day didn't went that well for me though =( I had so much props and stuffs to carry I actually forgot about my costume even though I ironed and bagged it that morning! Had to cab home for it after reaching the photo-shoot location T.T

Anyway, back to our shoot concept. Zephyus and I couldn't agree on a suitable setting for Defence Devil as it seemed like the series existed in a fictional era of clock towers, exercising priest, hamburgers, Combini (Convenience Stores) and Ramen. Confusion much @.@!

Zephyus wanted to have an urban setting but in the end I convinced her that Defence Devil is probably much like current Paris/France. And so we got colonial backgrounds instead :D!

I really loveeee the shoot location! Would be so sad when it gets covered up for upgrading works.

Zeratul brought his epic lights! They were probably 2 storeys high and looked like a singular sunflower xD Our helper had to hold on to it to prevent the wind from carrying it off xD. And there is Hexlord photo bombing xD

Zeratul acting cute

If you haven’t realised, I personally LOVE action shots! I Love dynamic impact on photos and I brutally forced zeratul to keep retaking the same pose for me haha.

Wanted to have an action shot of Idamaria with her weapons. So I tried to run and pierce in the direction of the camera while my left hand clumsily throws my wig in the air to fake movement. After that we tried jumping diagonally but was epic fail.

Then we tried doing it with her gun. The photo consist of me doing a 180 degree turn that ends with my torso slanted , throw my hair with left hand again, point the gun towards the camera(making sure the words are visible) and then give a death stare... All at the same time.

This was the best shot.

Top part of the gun flew and hit Zeratul straight in the lens and we all burst out laughing ahaha. And I shall photo spam you because I don't know what else to say.

Oh! A small posing tip to share with you guys. If your feet/legs are going to be seen from the front in pictures. remember to either tip your toes or cross them . See the difference below?

Again, I apologise if this entry is a little boring. Sometimes it’s hard to squeeze words in when the photographs does a much better job of describing.

Skip beat Photoshoot

*SUPER intensive graphic load and nauseating narcissm*
So my last photoshoot post got quite a few encouragements from you guys commenting that you like the content so I'm here for another! I reckon most of you would know of my shameless pimpin endeavor last month for ORA's Smiling Contest. And my submission picture was myself cosplaying as Kyoko from Skip Beat.

Would you believe if I say this picture has not been touched up at all? (Not trying to imply I look perfect, I just feel that technically, it’s a very well taken photograph with adequate lighting and doesn’t need much touch up (as long as we look at it with eyes of kindness). Even though if I want to, there’s lotsss I can do )
Photos in this entry are all unedited (at least not by me) unless otherwise stated. 

It was a simple and very last minute Photoshoot so there's nothing spectacular arranged. Much thanks to Juliana for taking time out from her schedule to shoot with me =)

The costume is comfortable and easy to make and I don't have any tips to share either. So I'm just here to share the gazillion amount of photos taken in a bid to lessen the amount of photos that have seen their graves in my HDD.

Don't you just hate how you can take a few hundreds photos per shoot but only showcase 2% of it? So what happens to the rest of the 98%?! Starve and die in your HDD till the end of time!!!

I don’t know about you but I can never get myself to delete the other photos away. So with every photoshoot, my HDD becomes 1- 2 Gigabytes smaller. Thank goodness memory space are cheap now.

The shoot was held at a popular local landmark and there were heaps of people everywhere. Trying to get an empty background was definitely not an easy task.

I’m sitting in the shadow of Juliana’s Light Shade. My eyes couldn’t take the full glory of our cardinal Sun so you guys will just have to deal with the awkward shadow. Yes, my wig is really messy =(

 

Really liked this picture even though its too blur =( The kite is real by the way. Great timing yeah xD?

My fringe and face spoilt everything but I like how Juliana posed me ;D

One thing I realize after this Photoshoot which I seriously ought to have realised long ago. But you know what they say about a picture speaking a 1000 words. And I guess having photographic proof speaks louder than any theories.

I realize If you don't want to have to post-process your photographs, then make sure you and your photographer set up the light well! 

The only reason why these photos are presentable without Photoshop is because Juliana (photographer) set up an awesome Light stand to illuminate my face. And we took effort to make sure my face is getting as much light as it could by facing the right angle or have a reflector to fill the light in.

If you and your photographer can't afford a reflector, fret not! Just find some big white material (Vanguard sheet, styrofoam) and they can do the trick too!

Abruptly ending my overly long and nauseating entry here because I’m really sleepy. I’m sorry I got too photo happy and hope I didn’t kill your bandwidth with my nonsense photographs.

You can tell I enjoy having fun and living the character when I’m cosplaying. Even though I admit, half of the pictures are me with a silly face but ….. you know you love Kyoko :D yea yea?
