Yu Yu Hakusho: Minamino Shuichi aka Kurama 06

After being fatally wounded, Youko Kurama, the demon thief, was left no choice but to fuse with the unborn child of Minamino Shiori. He was born as Minamino Shuichi, a human who retains his demon powers and consciousness at a much lower level. Kurama originally planned to return to his demon form after regenerating his powers, but a bond of love and loyalty forms between mother and son, one which Kurama could not bear to break. He then decided to stay with Shiori as her son.

So pretty! I want to have hair like that too. First found on Kurama Otaku’s Tumblr!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Genkai

A legendary reiki master, Genkai is known both in the human and demon realms and takes in an unlikely Urameshi Yusuke as her successor. Her signature technique, the Spirit Wave, is an outpour of spirit energy from the entire body which can be used in healing, purification, and combat. A side effect of this power shifts the body’s cells into temporary reversion to the form in which the wielder was most powerful in their life.

Kurama first met Hiei a year before they met Yusuke. Hiei was chasing a demon at the time whom he thought had something to do with his twin sister's disappearance. Upon entering the human world, he comes across a powerful energy signature belonging to Kurama, who was still healing from his wounds when he was still the demon fox known as Youko.

Kurama's schoolmate, Kitajima Maya, was later taken by the very demon Hiei was pursuing. That was the first time the two of them worked together and had become friends ever since.

This is way too adorable for words. I really love these characters very much and am so glad there are still people who cosplay them! Great job!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kuwabara Kazuma

Urameshi Yusuke’s rival who became his loyal friend and companion as time passed by, Kuwabara was thought of as a normal human being with strong Reiki (spiritual) sensitivity. He was able to master his powers, manifesting a Rei Ken or “spirit sword” and by the end of the series, becomes the strongest human alive.

I didn’t like Kuwabara that much when the series came out. He’s a main character, but he was mostly there for comic relief. It was nice that he thought about his future in the final chapters though. Great cosplay!

King Enma Jr., who is more commonly referred to as Koenma, is the son of the ruler of Heaven. He is at least 700 years old, and carries a pacifier that gathers his pure Reiki or spirit energy. When released, the energy acts as a powerful seal to contain dangerous demons.

Although he has an adult form, Koenma commented that he prefers to move around in his baby form. Maybe it’s because of his weapon? I mean, he’s be laughed at for having a pacifier at this age, right? Not that it makes him any less cute.

Anyway, impressive cosplay. I really miss watching this series too. Great work!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama 04

Minamino Shuichi, more commonly known as Kurama, is the human side of the Thief King, Youko. He is analytical, cunning, and very protective over the people he cares about. He is merciless to anyone who poses as a threat and was thought to become the strongest member of the Urameshi group until Yusuke Mazuko lineage awoke. Kurama is also self-sacrificing and therefor recieves the most serious wounds in battle.

This is one of the older pictures I have in my hard drive. I was surprise to have found it after so long. So which Kurama cosplayers do you prefer among the four: the first, second, third, or this post?

Yu Yu Hakusho: Youko Kurama 03

I don’t know about you guys, but this image? I feel like I’m looking at the young version of Youko. Somewhere along the lines of, I don’t know, only a few years old? Long before he was known as “The Thief King”.

Also of note, the cosplayer is obviously female, don’t you think? A very cute one too. Probably the best looking Youko compared to this one with Hiei and the most recent one some people probably still remember.

I really love the hair and the ears on this cosplay though. The ears look so soft. Great job!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Youko Kurama 02

How many Kurama’s have plagued this blog? I think I may have lost count… Being that he has 2 forms (ok, 3 including his full fox form), and he’s one of the most popular characters in the Yu Yu Hakusho series, I’m not surprised so many cosplayers portrayed him.

I suppose people will complain about the usage of fake roses as opposed to real ones… But, I don’t think real roses can be arranged to intertwine that way, can it? You have to admit though, the pose and the expression on Youko’s face is absolutely gorgeous. Probably one of my most favorite cosplays of him so far! Nice job!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Youko Kurama and Hiei

Oh my… I didn’t think there’ll be more Yu Yu Hakusho cosplays that are being done recently… But according to this picture, it was uploaded December 10, 2007 on High King’s Flickr account.

The demon Youko is good, though I think wearing the wings made of petals and vines he used to fly around the Demon World may be a bit much… What I’m really impressed with is Hiei! The cosplayer’s got the look and attitude just right!

Of course, I was hunting for a Hiei cosplayer especially for Shadow Cat. I didn’t get the particular Hiei look that she requested, but I think she’ll be happy with this anyway…

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama 03

I did not expect to see any recent cosplay pictures of Youko Kurama in conventions… But this cosplayer is from Taiwan and appeared in the Fancy Frontier 9 & Comic World in Taiwan 15 on February 24th, earlier this year…

Yes, the fangirl screams for Kurama never dies.

Interesting costume though. I’m not sure where this cosplayer got the idea from… Maybe from the manga, because I’ve never seen such a costume in the anime before… But I am most certain this is Kurama. Because I don’t think anyone else has a rose whip for a weapon in the anime universe…

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama and Hiei

I never thought I’d see the day when I’d find a cool looking Kurama and Hiei cosplay. Photobucket really has its wonders.

Though I believe both cosplayers are females.

Here’s a trivia for you… Did you know that Kurama is named "Denis" and Hiei is names "Vincent" in the Filipino dubs? Worse, they first gave Kurama a female voice, saying that he is a girl when he is in the human world, and a guy when he is in the demon world.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Minamino Shuichi aka Kurama

Yu Yu Hakusho… One of the classic and one of the most influential animes of our time, and from the same creator as “Hunter x Hunter“. A half-demon spirit detective that goes into the demon world in order to keep peace in the human world, is joined by his best friend, another half-demon, and a full-fledged demon.

Kurama also known as the human boy “Minamino Shuichi” is the half-demon who, in the previous life, was once known as Youko Kurama, the Thief King. In order to escape death after being critically wounded, he transported his soul to the human world to inhabit the body of an unborn baby. Although he planned to leave his human family when his powers returned, he’s grown to love his mother, Shiori, and simply could not leave her behind.

Beautiful cosplay! The cosplayer really got Kurama’s hair and clothes! This is probably one of my most favorite cosplays and anime characters ever.
