Odin Sphere: Velvet

odin sphere cosplay - velvetThe fifth story known as “Fate” tells the story of Princess Velvet, one of the two uncursed survivors of the ruined kingdom of Valentine, which was destroyed by an incident with the Crystallization Cauldron. She wields a Psypher chain which has crystal weights on each end. She is later revealed to be the illegitimate daughter of Valentine’s mother and Odin, making her Gwendolyn’s half-sister.

Awesome cosplay by Himeno Shirayuki! Lovely cloth patterns and photography on this one. I like the angle too! First found on +ophanium!

Odin Sphere: Gwendolyn

odin sphere cosplay - gwendolynThe protagonist of the first story, Valkyrie Gwendolyn is the younger daughter of the Demon Lord Odin. When her sister Griselda is killed in battle, Gwendolyn inherited her crystal-headed sphere known as the Psypher spear. Gwendolyn then found herself caught up in her father’s plot to gain control of the Crystallization Cauldron, and is sent away to trick the fairies and their agent, the Shadow Knight Oswald.

Beautiful cosplay! I haven’t actually heard of this game until now, perhaps I will pick up a copy this week. Thanks to Cecilia for sending this in!

2:40 Am. Why am I up?

I shouldn't be awake. I should sleep, but instead I'm up.

I actually am tired though..I did cleaning, started on a drawing for the Fair's art show thing and then worked on cosplay... What did I get done you wonder? Well.........

I finally attached the red ball to Mercedes' outfit. I made the bugs that go in the jars out of air dry clay so tomorrow they should be dry enough to paint. I also...cut out the wings for the back of Agitha's dress and started painting layers of glue on to harden the craft foam. Mmm I finished the blanket for the basket today too except I was WANTING to add lace along the bottom but all I could find was an off white lace. She actually has this weird..kind of..thing going on along the edges of the cloth but I'm not sure what that's all about so I'm not doing it.

Ahhhh...I went through some of the boxes I have in the garage. They're full of the stuff I use to have at my dad's until he moved. :[ Now I have tons of stuff in boxes and there's no room in my room here at my mom's... ;/ bleh.

Okay so like it's late. I'm out. Good night!!!!

Pysphers: To Glow or not to Glow?

The answer is. To not glow. Due to stress and lack of time/money...we have decided to hold off the glowing part of our Pysphers. Right now we have too much on our plate as it is and need to work on what we really DO need finished for fanime. Our psyphers will unfortunately not glow this time!

We're all signed up for the Masquerade and will be #25. I'm pretty excited!! Our skit is already written out and we'll probably be practicing it by next month. Everyone has a lot to finish before the end of next month. It's going to get hectic in May but I have confidence that my cosplay group will pull through and we'll all look awesome by the time Fanime actually rolls around. O___O WE WILL BE EPIC. Okay, I don't know if other people will think so...but in our opinion? Epic. Who wouldn't like a group of 10 people, one stuffed animal mascot (Beetithy) all cosplaying from Odin Sphere? It truly is an amazing game and I hope our expression of love for it, really does show. :]

Progress...on Video!

I'm too lazy to charge my digital camera so I just kind of recorded some of my progress..
Speaking of which my glue gun is on! Oops! I'm working on the ears for my Leafeon cosplay right now. I want to finish it soon so I can just work on Agitha and Mercedes the most... ^~^;;!!

Psypher stuff!

Alright, so the pieces for my psypher are all cut out but nothing is put together. Robby and I figured it would be much easier if I just took them back and then glued everything together whenever I got home. Unfortunately it was taking a little longer than he thought to fix together all the LED stuff so he's sending that part to me in the mail when he finishes it. We had lots of fun and didn't get as much cosplay done as we said we would but whatever...there's still some time!

I'll be going home tomorrow. I'm anxious about it but I'm sad because I have to leave Robby... (._____.) I have an ugly feeling inside just thinking of how I can't wake up and see his handsome face every morning. I'll miss him...but I know once we're both not busy again we will be together.. I know we can get married and then just be together but I don't want to do that. I can't even afford a wedding, so what makes me think I can handle a marriage? No job. No nothin'! I need money...rawr. I should put this in my personal blog. T___T Sorry. I'll stop now.

Ja ne.

3-4-10 Progress Photos!

I got some work done today:
-Finished the other pleated sleeve for Mercedes.
-Cut and sewed the obi/wrap for Agitha.
-Cut out the dark gray detailing for Agitha.
-Sewed up some areas that were just pinned on Agitha's dress top.

^~^! So yeah, more work tomorrow if we don't go anywhere.

Sew, sew, sew..

Did more sewing and worked on my psypher today! Got the top 4 triangles done for the diamond-like object...and tomorrow we'll probably work on it some more. I do plan on taking some pictures tomorrow of what progress I have done so I will show you then.

Till then..I'm SUPER excited for Fanime. I can't believe we have like 2 months & 24 days left! Our Odin Sphere group is going to be so amazing. I'm so happy! D: We'll have...

More progress for miss Agitha!

Yeeeeeeeep. I got a bit of progress done today!! Robby's mom let me use her sewing machine. She also gave me this hand sewing machine thing...for like emergencies (convention problems!) so I thought that was pretty cool.

^~^ Oh yeah, aside from getting progress done on Agitha's dress, I found some shoes for my Mercedes cosplay! w000h000! I found them at Wal-Mart. I was going to buy them and then Robby said he would just pay for it.. I don't know why... It might have been because I was getting some bad anxiety and he probably felt bad. I don't know, he's really nice though T-T

Tomorrow I'll try and make a video. I don't know though because my cousin who lives here in Texas will be coming to see me. D: So yah. We'll see! Good night.

Lowes..and stuff!

Went to Lowes yesterday and bought acrylic sheets for my psypher. I think it will look nice! We also got some LEDs, a wire and a switch. I am glad Robby was here because there were small parts we needed that I had no clue what they were. Heheh. :3 We're both pretty excited about making it. He said he could easily help me make the whole bow but I won't be here long enough I don't think and I don't know HOW I would transport it to CA. XD

I haven't done any sewing yet but there is a sewing machine here. I need to find some nice scissors and work on my stuff a little. Right now Robby is working on his car so I'm just inside on the laptop. It's kind of cool outside so I think I'll put on a sweater. Who knew it could get cold here? :P

OH! I also need to take a pic of my Mercedes shirt soon so I can show progress =P

But ya. Going to go now. I feel better, but uhhh I am so busy here. D: I also want to visit my friend Catz, who cosplays too. I only know her online but she lives here in the city. :D

Re: hey cutie hope to c u at san-japan it will

...Rofl. You're probably wondering what's up with the title. Well it was what I first read when I checked my messages on cosplay.com. Some guy saw I was moving to TX eventually and decided to "hit me up" on there. It was just him asking if I was going to San Japan (A 3 day con in San Antonio, TX)..and that I'm from CA for "no wonder im a cutie" >.>; I was like "Uhh..heheh. Yeah, I will be going with my fiance :D" Heheheeeee..........~ But yeah, I don't mind getting compliments but saying "ur a cutie, i'd love to meet up with you" is not what I want to hear...and I'm not available XP

Anyway! Asiiiide from that. Hello! I am in TX right now. I've been busy and not been online much (obviously). Not much has happened cosplay wise. The day or so before I left I made the blouse part to Agitha's dress...and then while I've been here Robby bought some parts for my psypher(sp?) for my Mercede's crossbow~ Today we're going to buy the plexiglass that we'll be using to cut into the diamond shape and then add a small hole to slip the LEDs in. :] I'm really excited about this...I'm glad Robby wants to help. He's even taking me to this Asian Culture festival on the 20th and then Mizumi-con in the 27th. It's a small con and I have no costume..buuuut it'll still be fun being with Robby and checking out the little event.

....blegh, I'm kind of sick today but I want to feel better so we can go to Home Depot and Wal-Mart soon. ;(

How is everyone...? Sorry I haven't been able to reply to comments....I will soon.

AOD? Ready? ALMOST---Yes, almost!

OKAY soooooooooo....Ayame is totally finished and has been for the past week or so buuutttt I plan on taking my Chelsea cosplay too to match with Keika when she wears her Leon costume! I'll probably wear Ayame half Saturday and Chelsea the rest of the half.... then on Sunday I'll wear Ayame again because he is comfortable--unless I decide he isn't and go for Chelsea. XD

I only need to do the following:
-Pack for AOD
-Touch up Chelsea's boots, knee-pads and fix up the wig again
-Gather some treats to bring for the hotel room.

Yep. That's all...then when I get back I will be home for ONE day then go to Texas the next morning. I got to get up at the crack of freakin' dawn and then head to the airport at 7am, board at like...8:20 and leave at 8:45. I'll arrive in TX at like 3 something but it'll only be like 1pm in CA. :3 Apparently my travel time is like 4 hours and 45 mins? I have to switch planes at the LAX(LA airport) and quickly rush to my other plane that will be boarding right when I get there. Gee, that will be fun. I have no time to get lost. I just have to rush over! I'll probably ask someone where it is as soon as I get out, so I can hurry over. Ughh~!!

Anyway...I'm going to go edit a video and upload it to my youtube! :] Bai guyz~

AB Aftermath

Well, Anime Boston has come and gone, and I've had to integrate myself back into the real world.

It's a sad time for everyone.

I had a lot of fun at AB this year, although perhaps not as much as I had expected. I can't really put my finger on the exact reason for it, but I think part of it had to do with being unable to attend all the panels I was interested in, with the exception of the Doujinshi Culture panel, which was very good.

As far as cosplay goes, I would say it was a success. I loved wearing both of my costumes, and a lot of people took photos of me and my friends. I even got a ticket for the judge's hall contest... too bad you need three to get a prize ribbon. Oh, well. Maybe next year I'll hang out in the hallways posing more often. :3

Mike's Ashitaka costume turned out great, if I do say so myself. My boyfriend helped out (time crunch, don't be too shocked) by wrapping the sword handle and making the sheath. Mike showed up with his own bow.

The Pillows put on a really great show on Saturday, despite the concert itself being very far behind schedule (reason I missed one of my panels ._.). It was kind of ridiculous how long we were kept waiting, and that they didn't even start letting people in until 3, which is when the concert was supposed to start. This was bad planning. I enjoyed watching Luv & Response as well... can't go wrong with choreographed dances. They were too r&b for my taste, though. I'm more of a straight pop fan in that category.

Anyway.

I heard about... and saw a little of... the astronomically long registration lines. To anyone who had to wait in that melee, I feel really bad about it. It couldn't have been fun, and I'm sure you missed things you wanted to do. On behalf of everyone, I hope - and pretty much expect and demand - that AB gets it right next year. Six computers to register tens of thousands of people is unacceptable.

I saw many good costumes at the convention, but as I'm still having camera issues, didn't get to take many photos. I'll have to rely on my friends' few pictures to show some of the costumes.

For now, here are some pictures I've gathered off the internet and my friends of all of us in our various costumes. The photo above is me as Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere (her formal outfit), which I wore to the formal ball on Friday and just walking around Sunday.

[Left] Me as Suigintou. [Right] My boyfriend as Phoenix Wright (plus glasses), with a Mia and Maya we bumped into at the Pru.

[Left] Mike as Zabuza from Naruto. After a year, the sword needs some touching up, but it still looked pretty damn cool. [Right] Mike (the other Mike) as Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke.

More Costumes; More Sword Changes

As is typical, the idea and process for creating the Suigintou sword has changed yet again.

I spent hours with my dad (definitely a two-person job) creating a blade out of foam to cover in plastic, and it was just not working out. We got stuck trying to make the difficult angles in the blade, and worried how the plastic would adhere if we couldn't get the foam perfectly smooth. It was all blowing up and we were at a standstill for a while.

I finally came the conclusion that I should just make the blade out of wood/MDF and deal with the consequences should there be any. That way, the sword would look the way I wanted it to. I will take it to Anime Boston and hope no one thinks it's dangerous (it certainly will not be). If they do, I'll just leave it at security, pick it up at the end of the day, and go on without it. But at least I will have a sword the way I want it to look for other cons and photo shoots. That seemed more important, in the end, than a particular cons potential rules, particularly when I'm not being entered in any formal competitions.

In the realm of more costumes... MORE COSTUMES. I will be making myself another costume for Anime Boston to wear to the formal ball, which will be Gwendolyn's ball gown from Odin Sphere. I bought all the fabric for it this weekend and I'm really excited about it.

I also bought fabric for my friend Mike's costume, who will be going to AB as Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. It's a pretty simple costume, which are some of the most fun to do, because every detail is important. I got great fabric for the hood and burlap to make him some shoe covers. He's (supposedly) taking care of his own sword and (maybe) bow.

I'll be working on 4 costumes - the two mentioned above, Suigintou, and the Urd commission - over the next month leading up to AB. Spring break is definitely my friend this year (first week of march). I'll be posting all kinds of photos over the coming weeks, including of sword construction.

This is the fun part!

Wonderflex and Friendly Plastic

I've been reading up on this newfangled Wonderflex and its friend Friendly Plastic.
I've been searching for something to make, at the very least, the calf armour for Gwendolyn, and potentially any and all armour for Oswald, if my boyfriend decides to go as him. Both are from Odin Sphere:

After reading the FAQs and tutorials for using Wonderflex and Friendly Plastic, I feel confident enough that this could be a good solution for making armour and maybe even weapons. I am going to order a small sheet of Wonderflex and a small container of Friendly Plastic to experiment with.
I am also going to pick up some Bondo, because (1) I have never used it before, heard some mixed opinions, and want to see what it can do, and (2) I wouldn't use gesso as suggested in the Wonderflex FAQ because there is no way that will not come off in chunks.

Once I get the materials and play around with them, I'll post my results with photos.
